Hunan Announces 93 “Belt and Road” International Production Capacity Cooperation Projects

The approval of the China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone further expanded the “Belt and Road” initiative cooperation space. It was learned from the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission on September 24 that, Hunan recently announced 93 “Belt and Road” international production capacity cooperation projects. A new opening up and development pattern will be formed while implementing the “Belt and Road” through “bringing in” and “going global”.

The 93 projects cover such fields as hydropower, urban construction, agriculture, transportation, talent training, and industrial park construction. Some projects have been started, and some are planned or reserved.

The Pakistan Dasu Hydropower Station is an overseas investment project jointly built by the PowerChina Zhongnan Engineering Corporation Limited. It can meet the electricity demand of about 4 million Pakistani households upon completion, and will bring new momentum to the social and economic development of remote areas of the country.

The Hunan Vocational College of Railway Technology will establish railway academies or talent training centers in Thailand, Malaysia, Kenya, Laos, Indonesia, and Ethiopia.

The provincial development and reform authority introduced that it will grasp the principles of classified promotion, dynamic management, and priority guarantee, and conduct scientific scheduling of projects, give full play to Hunan's advantages, and expand cooperation field.

In recent years, Hunan has carried out in-depth international capacity cooperation and expanded high-level opening up. In the first half of the year, the provincial imports and exports to countries along the “Belt and Road” route reached 64.441 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25.1%.
