The Hunan Construction Industry “Going Global” Strategic Cooperation Alliance held its annual membership conference recently. Its member companies increased from 45 to 64, offering construction, survey, design, supervision, consultation, equipment manufacturing, and labor services to the countries and regions including Kenya, Egypt, Tanzania, Pakistan, UK, and Mexico.
The conference noted that, amid the worldwide outbreak of epidemic, the alliance should guide and assist the member companies to strengthen epidemic prevention and control when expanding overseas business, guarantee reserve of protective supplies, safeguard the workers, and make comprehensive assessment on and deal with the risks of foreign contracted projects.
Opportunities exist in challenges. As the COVID-19 epidemic impacts the international market seriously, infrastructure investment may become significant to revitalize economy worldwide. The “Belt and Road” countries are main targets of Hunan’s construction enterprises. The alliance will strive to raise the profile of “Hunan Construction”, give full play to cooperative advantages, promote “Internet plus ‘going global’” mode, and assist in the integrated management of investment, construction, operation, and management for overseas projects.
In 2019, Hunan’s construction industry realized a total output value of one trillion yuan for the first time, reaching about 1.08 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.7%. As for international economic cooperation, the foreign contracted projects and the new contracts of labor service cooperation amounted to 12.546 billion USD, increasing by 30.6% over last year. The business volume was 10.215 billion USD, up 20.5%.
