On August 13, China-Europe freight train X8426 departs from Changsha International Railway Port.
On the morning of August 12, a China-Europe freight train loaded with home appliances and daily necessities departed from Changsha North Freight Station. It is scheduled to arrive in Minsk, capital of Belarus, in 15 days. The transported goods were valued at 6.4 million USD and weighted at 570 tons.
The China-Europe freight trains have provided stable, safe, effective, and convenient services for Changsha enterprises to go global amid the COVID-19 epidemic. Statistics showed that, as of August 11, Changsha has handled 530 China-Europe freight train trips this year, exceeding the total number of last year. A total of 114 China-Europe freight train trips were handled in July alone, hitting a record high and up 44.3% year on year.
Departments at all levels have cooperated to ensure the smooth operation of China-Europe freight trains. The Changsha Municipal Government Logistics Port Office coordinated epidemic prevention and control while stabilizing supply chains, to identify gaps and improve weaknesses based on a closed-off loop management. The Xiangsha Customs adopted in-advance railway export declaration to handle customs transfer instantly and ensure punctual departure of China-Europe freight trains. The Central South China International Land Port Co., Ltd. has taken strict epidemic prevention and control measures and mobilized supply of goods to ensure normal operation of freight trains.
"This year, we have been strengthening our export routes, while vigorously developing import trains. Starting from July, imports and exports have been basically balanced. In the second half of the year, we will focus on the pilot projects of the cross-border e-commerce and mail trains to Russia, and support the construction of China-Europe Less Container Load Center. This will help establish seamless connection with the customs supervision area of Changsha International Railway Port, to further improve the throughput capacity of the China-Europe freight trains," said Ye Hongbin, general manager of Central South China International Land Port Co., Ltd.
