Mogilev is the third largest city and one of the most important industrial centers in Belarus. Changsha and Mogilev signed a Letter of Intent for the establishment of friendship-city relationship in 2017. Since then, the two cities have deepened exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, and tourism, with fruitful results achieved. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 last year, the two cities have supported and assisted each other, and the friendship has been further deepened. They officially established a sister-city relationship in June 2020.

In his speech, Mayor Zheng Jianxin congratulated Mogilev on its achievements in economic and social development. He said that, given that the global epidemic situation is still grim, Changsha will continue efforts in COVID-19 prevention and control, and meanwhile uphold the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind. Guided by the Belt and Road Initiative, Changsha will continue to innovate the international sister-city exchange and cooperation mechanism, and have fruitful bilateral relations. Changsha will further deepen exchanges and cooperation with Mogilev in the fields of economy and trade, science and technology, culture, tourism and education, and make positive contributions to the cause of China-Belarus friendship.

Vladimir Tsumarev, chairman of the Mogilev City Executive Committee, expressed his sincere admiration for Changsha’s great achievements in epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development. He hoped that Changsha and Mogilev will further maintain close exchanges, expand cooperation and exchanges in various aspects, and jointly push bilateral cooperation to a new level.
